A Jira story is ready for planning when the team can estimate both effort and uncertainty.

Use this quick checklist before bringing work into a planning room:

  • The title describes the outcome.
  • The description explains who benefits and why.
  • Acceptance criteria are testable.
  • Dependencies are named.
  • Data and permission changes are visible.
  • The story can be split if estimates diverge.
  • The team knows what evidence proves completion.

If a story fails more than two checks, the planning session should produce questions before it produces a number.

PlannerPoker helps by importing the Jira issue, revealing estimate disagreement, and saving the AI planning report with the final decision context.
